If Republicans won't take a stand now, when will they?

I would have thought Mr. Perkins was more politically savvy than this. Sir, the Republicans don't want to lose abortion as an issue. As Barbara Morrill put it at the link, "If Republicans didn't take any meaningful action against abortion when they controlled the White House, the Senate, and the House, what makes you think they'd take a stand now? At what point will the Christian conservatives figure out that they're being used by the Republican Party?"
